This week's #motivation has to do with overcoming anxiety that one may feel in being in social places. My past experiences of going to the gym to exercise weren't so great because I was filled with anxiety from seeing other people working out (who also appeared to be fit) and here I was feeling like I didn't fit in. Fast forward to two months ago when I decided to go to the gym regularly (because I invested in a membership), I realized that I had to fight that and by doing so I could help someone else fight their social anxiety. So yes I felt anxious the first week of going to the gym, but it got better when I saw so many different people who were working earnestly toward being healthy like me and didn't care about what others thought. That was when I didn't care anymore either. I come in with my music, greet people, and start on whatever machine I feel like starting with for my workout. I promise it gets better with each trip to the gym. Don't worry about what other people are thinking. They're working toward the same goals as you. We're all in this together. 😉😉😉
For #MotivationalMonday I decided to talk about myself. The photo on the left is from a year ago, while the the photo on the right is from today. Sometimes we tend to judge progress solely on the scale, and when we do that we get so hung up on a number and get discouraged when the scale doesn't show what we think it should show. Since going to the gym I have been taking post-gym selfies for my records to judge progress later. I decided to check my progress today and clearly there is a difference. My word of encouragement for this week, don't get hung up on the scale, judge your progress in other ways, such as pictures or the way your clothes fit.
Hi everyone! So for #MotivationalMonday we are talking about weight loss. When we are saying that we want to lose weight, it leaves it open for that weight to be "found" again. No. This quote says it best, we are not losing weight, we are getting rid of it! I don't know about you, but I don't want to find it again, I want it out of my life! 💪💪💪
Today's #motivational comes from having that push and drive within yourself and it is so simple:
If you can't stop thinking about it, don't stop working for it!
Myself personally I have several health goals aside from the number of the scale. I want to be more toned as well as become stronger. I want to have more energy. I want to be the best example of living a healthy lifestyle. I think about these things a lot. Every. Single. Day. I aim to work out almost every day, and if it is a day that I can't fit a regular 30-40 minute workout, I'll do a 20 minute workout. It is still something! Do you want to eat healthier? Make that first step, whether it is a salad or trying a new vegetable! Living a healthy lifestyle should be everyone's passion! You are given this body, it is your temple, take care of that temple! 💖💖💖
Today's #motivational is a friendly reminder of when you feel you are not reaching your health and fitness goals: Do not be discouraged as great things take time!
I will be honest and transparent here, I have had my struggles during my journey. I have felt that I should be making more progress than what I have already done. Truth of the matter is, there will be setbacks, plateaus, etc., but what is important is your reaction to those things. There are two ways to react: Give up, or work through the storm. I personally choose to work through it, it will give yourself inspiration as well as provide inspiration to someone else who may be going through a storm too. 😉😉😉
Today's #motivational involves something that I personally do (and have been doing) on my healthy lifestyle journey. I think it is important to visualize yourself reaching your health goals, as it brings#motivation and makes you look forward to doing the behaviors that will lead to meeting those goals. So#visualize! 💪💪💪
Today's #motivational comes from a quote that was said by Nelson Mandela, and one that is very true about life:
"It always seems impossible until it is done."
Think of this quote as it relates to your healthy lifestyle journey. Looking at it first glance:
Getting more exercise seems impossible.
Losing x amount of weight seems impossible.
Eating more healthy seems impossible.
Living a healthier lifestyle seems impossible.
Losing x amount of weight seems impossible begins with a step, a small step. Rome was not built in a day, so reaching a healthier you will take some time too. Once you take those steps one at a time, you'll be walking into that healthier lifestyle in no time! Take myself for example. When I started my journey I weighed 242.5 pounds. I took small steps, such as drinking less soda and more water, tracking my food, and incorporated at least 30 minutes of exercise a day. There were some rough days, but I got down to 228 pounds in a few months. I'm working my way to break that mark and make even more progress but let me tell you, I had my doubts. It felt impossible to get to that point, but it only seems that way until it is done. 😉😉😉
Today's #motivational is probably my favorite and is my driving force in my wellness journey:
"Do it for the after selfie!" 😃😃😃
So to tell a little secret: I visualize a lot, especially when it comes to this journey. I think about how I would look and most importantly, how I will feel when I achieve my personal wellness goals. I think it is very important that you do this too, because it does give a motivational push! 💪💪💪
Today's #motivational is something that I know I need to be reminded of while on my journey (and maybe for yours too!).
Trust the Process!
The healthy lifestyle journey isn't cookie cutter. Everyone doesn't experience the same journey. It's unique to you. Nothing isn't going to happen overnight. It takes one step, then another. There will be setbacks, that comes with the territory. Just promise me that you will not give up! Celebrate the small successes and let that be the #motivation to keep you going for even bigger successes!
Today's #motivational is a lesson in #selflove. Oftentimes people view working out as a form of punishment or often do so because they don't love/like their bodies. Let's get rid of that mindset, shall we?
Workout because you love your body.
Workout because you love yourself. ♥️♥️♥️
Begin a new mindset. Workout because you love your body enough to take care of it. Invest in #wellness so that you don't have to invest in an #illness.
